Off-Kilter or Ungrounded??

I am so excited to be back!!

I have been traveling for most of the winter… which if you have been following the Nor’easters along the South Shore of Boston, you know I have been blessed to be elsewhere! That said, being in 12 hotels in 3 months makes you really appreciate home!

This last stretch had me flying from Boston, to the Northern part of CA, to Southern CA, headed back to the South East and onto the islands before heading back to Boston. It was a looong trip with beautiful memories but I noticed that by the 2nd week I began to really feel off-kilter and ungrounded.

I needed…

Something grounding

Something that was a strong foundation

Something that gave support

Something that nurtured

Something that rejuvenated

That Something is Home!

I invite you to notice if your home supports, nurtures, rejuvenates and grounds you.

Is it a strong foundation that you are excited to return to each day or after a vacation?

Or do you need to take action today to make it a supportive, nurturing and rejuvenating space that is your strong foundation?

If it is the latter, what is that one thing? Can you commit to doing it before the end of today?

Go for it! You will be amazed at the impact!

Happy Soaring!

Get Organized Month!

Did you know that January is National Get Organized Month? It was actually established in 2005!  So, where in your life do you need to get organized?

The thing is, when your home, business or life is disorganized it zaps your energy and mojo.

Think about the last time you walked in to your home and it felt clean, clear of clutter, and everything had a spot… (Hopefully you have experienced this at some point!) But, if you haven’t, think about the last time you walked in to a hotel room that was clean, clutter-free and organized. It makes you feel good! The surroundings give you energy and are uplifting.

The reverse is also true… think about the last time you were trying to find something that was missing in your space, or looked at the stack or pile that needed your attention. How did that make you feel?  Frustrated, exhausted, overwhelmed?

That is what happens when you are disorganized. It is a stamina stealer and takes away your vitality. It drains you and overwhelms you, which has a major impact on your level of energy, productivity, creativity, ability to focus, patience… and the list can go on and on. Basically it plays a massive role in your level of happiness & abundance and has an impact on your relationships & health.

I was on the phone with a new client who needs help organizing her home office. She is tired of looking at the stacks of paper and folders all around her and knows it is taking away from her productivity. She explained, “How effective can I be when it takes me a few minutes when I need to find something?” This is so true and I applaud her for recognizing it and seeking help! Not only will disorganization rob her of her effectiveness, which in her case will have a direct impact on her profitability, but it will also spill over into other areas of her life. If she is frustrated in her space, do you think it has an impact on her level of patience with her family?

Sometimes it is hard to believe that a little clutter or disorganization can have such a major effect on all areas of your life. I am here to tell you it does! It is like the proverbial pebble in the pond that ripples out and touches everything.

Take a few moments to think about what area of your life need to get organized. Is it your space, your financials, your relationships? Whatever it is for you, get started today!

Here’s to January is National Get Organized Month!

Happy Soaring!

Fresh Start!

New Year's Blog Image 1-2-18 2Happy New Year!

The New Year is an obvious time of reflection and a chance to decide what we want to create for the year ahead. Both are important, otherwise you get stuck in the same place (figuratively and literally) year after year.

So, what were your dreams that you envisioned would come to fruition in 2017?

Can you remember back to 1/1/2017 and what your hopes and dreams were on that day? Take a moment and really connect to what that was.

Was your goal or resolution to get more organized, feel less stress, lose weight, quit a bad habit, work out more often, travel more, make better financial decisions, self improvement, create success in your work world, live in a beautiful space or meet your soul mate?

Did you make it happen?

The reality is this… 41% of people in our culture create goals for the New Year. Unfortunately studies show that 90.8% of those that set a resolution will fail.  And, nearly half of those individuals who set resolutions will have forgotten about their goals in the first 30 days.

So, how can you make this year different? Better? How can you stick to your ideal vision that is summarized in your New Year’s Resolution?

Well, the answer is simple… you need a plan and a partner!

Let’s use the example of clearing clutter….

Plan:

You need a plan to clear the clutter in your home and brain. You are tired of being disorganized and feeling overwhelmed. It always feels like there is more stuff than space. Can you relate?

It is time to design a plan that is easy and actionable. Something that allows you to do small chunks each day. Each day you choose a space (preferably small) that you can clear and organize. This daily actionable routine helps it be top of mind, which allows it to develop into a positive, life-affirming habit.

Break the pieces down in to small parts. The reason that the Clutter Clearing 14-Day Challenge is so effective is that each “task” is small and simple. I had one mother share with me that her 8 year old did the challenge with her. If an 8 year old can do it, so can you. That’s the point; make each step in your plan so simple that an 8 year old can do it!

Partner:

Having someone hold you accountable to your vision is a tested and proven method to reach your goal… whatever it is!

Similar to the mom who shared that she and her daughter did the Clutter Clearing 14-Day Challenge together, it is important to find someone who knows you have made the commitment and will hold you accountable. Find a friend, family member to cheer you on or hire an expert or coach to guide you. Make sure it is someone who is truly in your corner. Statistics show that having an accountability partner exponentially increases your ability to reach your goals.

Taking the time to assess the achievement and failure of your past New Year’s resolution and goal is a great way to determine how successful your efforts will be in 2018. Don’t let this be another year where, as Alphonse Karr said, “the more things change, the more they stay the same”.

Break out of the mindset trap that keeps you stuck in the same place. You deserve to design a life that is exceptional!

The time is now. The person is you. Make a plan that will work today!

Happy Soaring!

Quick Holiday Stress Release!

Breathing 101 Image From mindbodycoach.orgHave you taken a deep breath lately?  Or, are you caught up in the craze of the holiday season?

Your breath is a great way to connect to your internal emotional barometer. Is it deep and full, short and quick or are you holding it in?

Take a few moments throughout your day to assess your breath. This will guide you in knowing your level of stress.

If you find your breath is a little quicker than usual or you find yourself holding it in, it is time to make adjustments! Sometimes it is easier to change your internal emotional barometer just by changing your breath. This is true when the hectic holiday season is here or when any of life’s bumps spring up and block you on your journey.

If you know that you have to go through an anxiety provoking experience or if one finds its way on your path… focus on your breath.

Take a deep breath in for a slow count of 5. Hold it at the top of the breath for a few seconds and then slowly exhale for a count of 5. When you have reached the bottom of your breath and you feel “empty” of breath, hold that for a few seconds. And then, slowly repeat. Do this breathing exercise 5 times.

Think about how you felt before and now notice how you feel after.  Hopefully some of the stress you had has dissipated away.  The great thing is that when you relieve some of your stress you are able to think more clearly, make better decisions, be more creative and have more fun.

It is critical to notice when your stress is starting to build because it impacts so many areas of your life. The easiest way to assess your stress level is to notice your breath.  You can then get relief by releasing it with the breathing exercise mentioned above.

We also created the Holiday Rescue Package for the hectic holiday hangover to give you tools to release the build up of stress from the holiday season! I want you to start the New Year on a solid foundation without the toxic build-up that stress creates on your mind, body, spirit and home! Click here to access your Holiday Rescue Package!

Happy Holidays!
