Let me help you connect to the part of you that knows this is possible. Peace, harmony, joy and abundance are waiting for you. Honor yourself and begin the connection.

Are You Happy?

Life Is Too Short ImageHow do you put “Happy” in your day?

Seriously.

I challenge you to notice whether you are feeling happy for the majority of your day, or not. “Happy” is the mode you were meant to live in and be in for the majority of your time. “Happy” helps you thrive. Do you feel like you are thriving?

I put “Happy” in quotation marks because “Happy” is a relative term. What makes me happy might be completely different for you. “Happy” is defined as feeling pleasure and contentment. Synonyms include words like cheerful, joyful, carefree, untroubled, satisfied and delighted. Can you relate to these words? Are you embodying their essence? Would you describe the majority of your day in this way? If not, is it time to add a little “Happy” in your day & life?

Let’s look at some simple solutions to add that cheerful, joyful, untroubled and satisfied feeling in your life.

Fill your day with small things you love.

Make time for things you love to be included in each and every day. This will bring out your smile that will light you up inside and out. These small moments of joy, love and laughter create a bigger, deeper and broader feelings of gratitude that enhances the “Happy” throughout your day even when you are feeling tested, taxed and overwhelmed.

Do something new that inspires awe.

Doing something new gives you a fresh perspective and a new way to look at life. It inspires a sense of awe, gratitude and “Happy”. Look at the things you consistently do with a fresh set of eyes or change it up for a day or two. This will help you tap into the grace that is connected to the mystery of your life.

Create wins in each day.

It is important to test yourself and try new things each day. When embarking on these or other challenges it is important to set yourself up for success. Create situations that are a reach for you but are also possible. I often see people taking on too much and then quit before ever really starting. Design steps that help you move forward instead of becoming stuck. These wins will help you celebrate your successes and create more “Happy” in each day.

Exercise.

Exercise has a beneficial impact on your mind and body. Take time each day to exercise to the point you sweat out toxins, breath deeply and focus on the movement of your body. This helps release toxins, energize the body with much needed oxygen and quite the chatter in your brain.

Home Sanctuary.

Ahh, that feeling of home. Design spaces in your home that act as a recharging station for you and your family. When your home enables you to rejuvenate, you can go out into the world and be the best you can be each day. It also helps you plug-in to your “Happy” from a happy place.

Quite Time.

Down time equals “Happy” mind. Taking time each day to get quite creates a sense of inner stillness. This will allow you to sidestep the barrage of frenetic energy that it part of daily living.  When you are part of the chaos of the typical lifestyle it is challenging to find a sense of “Happy”. Taking time each day to find stillness and calm will connect you to more moments of “Happy.”

You were designed to live in “Happy” mode for the majority of each day. That doesn’t mean that life won’t have challenges or roadblocks. Rather, it means that you have structured a framework of living that encourages you to live from a place of harmony and “Happy”.  Can you add a little “Happy” in your day so that you are thriving instead of surviving?

The Color Blueprint for Business & Life Balance

paint fan deckToday I am excited to speak to a group of women who come together to Believe, Inspire and Grow. The organization, BIG, asked me to speak on business, branding and life balance. As I thought about how to convey the lessons that I have learned over the years that have helped me design a flourishing business, create branding & marketing success and find balance in the midst of daily chaotic living, I decided to weave into the discussion the importance of color in each area. You might ask, “Why Color?” Color touches us on many levels visually, psychologically, physiologically and emotionally. Learning how to use color can impact the big vision for your business, create harmony in your home and help you stand out in the crowded world where new empires are built every day. In today’s article I will give you simple solutions on ways you can use color to create the life and business of your dreams!

What pops into your mind when you think about the following colors red, blue, green, yellow, and purple? Do you have a favorite? Is there one you really don’t like? Do they leave you with a feeling, sensation or emotional reaction?

Colors create a range of unique experiences for each person. Each individual has a distinct imprint associated with each color that has been stamped within the cellular memory of that person. This memory imprint or association can be connected to cultural, psychological, physical or emotional factors. Let me give you an example from my own experience.

When I was young, I had severe asthma brought on by physical activity or environmental allergens. My mom would notice my wheezing and head off to find my asthma medicine. Inevitably, it would turn into a bit of a cat and mouse chase with her trying to find me and me running away as fast as I could. Fast-forward thirty years and the site of purple creates a gag reflex in my throat. This involuntary reflex is solely based on the unconscious association I have with the color purple. This demonstrates the dramatic impact colors can have on us on both a conscious and unconscious level, psychologically and physiologically. It took me years to realize there was a triggered physical and emotional response created by the color purple! Begin to notice what colors you love and which ones you truly dislike. This will help you begin to determine which colors will support you in your life.

Studies have shown that colors have a physiological impact on your body. The color blue lowers your cortisol levels while the color red increases your heartbeat. Both of these scenarios can be beneficial in some situations and negative in others. What is important is determining when and how to use different colors to create positive results in your life.

Culturally colors have meaning. Determining what cultural color associations you connect with is important when deciding which colors to use in your life and business. Before choosing a color for your business and brand think about what the cultural connection is to that color. Are you connected to that cultural symbolism?

Marketing 101 explains how you and I don’t consider or even remember a product unless we have seen that product at least 7 times. In today’s chaotic world that number has probably started to rise because we are so inundated by a barrage of products and marketing tactics. One of the best ways to get your ideal target market to notice and remember you is by using colors to connect them to your business or brand. As a consumer begin to gain an awareness around the marketing tactics that your favorite and not so favorite brands use. This will actually help you move away from being unconsciously influenced to becoming a conscious consumer.

Mommy 101 intuitively tells me that certain colors are better in a home environment than others. If I want rambunctious teenage boys than I should use a color like red. Bright, vibrant colors might be fabulous in a gym or area where there is more activity. Soothing colors are best if you are trying to create a sanctuary of calm. Determine how you want to use each room in your home to help you create your Home in Harmony.

Take a moment to think about what your big vision is for your home, business and life. What color connects with this big vision? How can you use color to positively impact each area of your life?

Success Strategy for All Areas of Your Life

Newsletter Image 3-24-15Are you wishing you felt that sensation of loving your home every time you walk through the door? Or, are you yearning for that sense of calm instead of frantically just trying to get through the chaos of each day? Do you sometimes dream that you were living your passion & purpose and making a difference in the world while abundantly being rewarded for your impact & influence? Although these 3 areas seem so vastly different, the way to attain the results in the least amount of time is the same. In this week’s article I will explain how to get clarity around your ideal vision and take the fast track to make it happen with ease and grace. I truly want you to begin fulfilling your dreams for your home, happiness and higher calling.

We all have dreams and goals. That being said, some people are clear on what that bigger vision of their home, health, happiness and higher calling looks like, while others are not. If you have a clear vision of the ideal version of your life I recommend creating a visual representation of it. If you are not clear on this vision and version, take some time to contemplate how that will look for you. When you get clear, create a visual representation of that ideal vision and version. When you gain clarity around your dreams & goals and then create a visual representation of this big vision you draw that ideal version of your home, health, happiness and higher calling to you. Some people call this the Law of Attraction while others explain it as your subconscious mind connecting you to the experiences necessary (and filtering those that are unnecessary) to create the bigger vision of your life. Whatever it is, it works. Begin here.

The next step, which is the key to whether you have a long and arduous journey or take the fast, grace-filled pass to your ideal experience is getting yourself in the proximity of people who are doing, creating and living the life you hope to create. You want to surround yourself with people who are doing, creating and living the best vision of your ideal life and excelling at it! This is true for your home, health, happiness and higher calling. Begin to surround yourself with people who are truly successful in the areas you wish to change in your life and model the strategies that have made them successful. This will help you quickly create the home, health & happiness of your dreams instead of meandering slowly on a path unsure of which direction to move. Those that have come before you have already forged through and created a worn path. Connecting to them and following their lead is a success strategy that will allow you to walk their path giving you the proven to work, easy and grace-filled fast pass to your ideal life which can make it a reality in days instead of decades. It has been said that “Who you spend time with is who you become.” When you get committed to modeling someone who has already created the home, health, and happiness you hope to achieve in your own life, you will see the results at a rapid rate. Get committed!

Get clear on your version of your big vision for your home, health and happiness. Make a physical representation of this ideal. This will help your subconscious lead you to experiences that will help fulfill your dreams and goals. Find someone to model because proximity will give you the power of effortless momentum. These two simple strategies will help you begin to design the home and life you love!

Create Home, Health & Happiness!

Summer Dock on Water ImageFrom the time I was a child I have always felt that the 1st day of school marks the beginning of the year more so than New Year’s Day. Despite the fact that I have gone through periods of time untethered by the school calendar, that feeling hasn’t changed. I feel the shift in every aspect of my being but especially when I am outdoors.

As we sat on our back deck this past weekend, surrounded by family, the sun-drenched space was exceptionally hot so we decided to venture up to the pool. We chose a shaded spot to lounge by this liquid oasis. However, the protected spot offered cool, crisp air that made me bundle up in beach towels and decide not to venture into the turquoise water. My body sensed the change in the air before it registered in my awareness. I am always amazed at how our bodies are in cadence with the natural world. What I realized was, I could incorporate this natural rhythm into my life and use this time as a catalyst to create the best version of me, my home, health and happiness.

Does your internal sensory system notice the shift?

Does this mark the New Year for you?

The New Year is the perfect time to assess where you are in your home, health, happiness and overall life. In this week’s article we will look at a few things you can do to create an inspired living in your life!

It is hard to believe that Labor Day is here! The summer season seemed to fly by with adventures to New Hampshire, Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and Connecticut. Part of me is sad to say goodbye to the season of sun & sea. But, I am looking forward to a little more structure, the golden hue of leaves and simmering soups that nurture my soul. I like to use the seasonal shift as a stimulus to create inspired living in my life. You can use the natural shift in the season to help propel you towards the life & home you hope to create. Use this time to help you construct a lifestyle that you love. Let’s look at a few simple solutions to help you create inspired living…

Awareness:

Awareness is first. Determine where you want to be and take stock in where you currently are. Take a few moments to use your imagination and visual your ideal life. Write down what you envision. What would the rooms in your home look like? What colors would you incorporate? What activities would you be doing? How would you feel both physically and emotionally? Now take a moment to survey the landscape of your life and determine where you are actually at. Don’t worry if there is a huge disparity between where you are and where you want to be. Realize that gaining the awareness of this gap is sometimes the biggest challenge in creating inspired living in your life. This awareness can help to propel you forward to design your version of your best life!

Plan:

Now that you have a big-picture awareness of what you hope to create in your life & home, let’s put a plan in place to make it happen! Hopefully you have clearly defined what you hope to create or where you want to be in your life. Look at the items on your list and break down your actions into manageable steps. If you want to do a complete redesign of one room it is important to put a plan in place before you begin to take action otherwise you will end up with a disaster at the end. Trust me, it won’t be the result you were hoping for. The same can be said for any aspect of your life. Do you want a healthier body? Create manageable steps so that you won’t get discouraged and quit. Realize that if you couldn’t run 5 miles the first time you tied your sneakers in 5 years the steps weren’t manageable or realistic. Small steps will help you help build the momentum needed to encourage you to keep going and create inspired living in your life!

Action:

A plan is only as good as the action taken to get you where you want to be. Use this transitional time of year to create supportive structure in your home, body, mind & spirit. Do away with what hasn’t supported you and mindfully incorporate action steps into each day. Celebrating each success will help you reinforce the positive momentum and help you create inspired living in your life!

As the air makes its annual shift to crisp breezes and the leaves begin to golden it is a time to reflect on what you hope to create in your home, health and happiness. Put a plan in place that will help you successfully navigate your way to your ideal vision of your life. Take action now! Use the simple steps above to help you create inspired living and the life of your dreams!

Master Secrets of Happiness & Harmony

Sunset ImageToday I had the privilege of interviewing 3 experts for the Home in Harmony Master Class summer series. What I have found, as we wrap up the final details of this season, is that each expert has such a unique and inspiring way of looking at the world. In some way or another they have created a distinct way of finding happiness and harmony in their life.  I am captivated by their stories, journey’s and messages. Although their paths and messages are so different, there is often a common thread at how they approach life and view their experience within the cosmos.  In this issue we take a look at what sets these experts up for success.

I have had the blessing of interviewing over 50 experts for the last 2 seasons of the Home in Harmony Master Class. It has been awe inspiring and fun!  Although each expert has found his or her distinctively individual passion and purpose there seem to be common threads that determine how they move through life. Let’s look at a few of these commonalities…

Heart Wide Open

First, they lead with their hearts wide open. Their view of the world is that of a playground or place to experience joy and love. They expect to have positive experiences and life rewards them with what they expect.

Opportunity of Growth

Most have had their fair share of bumps along the road. They have dusted themselves off from the disappointments and dips that life has supplied and become stronger from the experience.  They appreciate theses incidents and are thankful for the opportunity of growth.

Gratitude

They have a deep sense of gratitude that guides them through life. This inner wellspring fills them with a limitless reservoir of grace that feeds and nurtures their spirit. This presence of gratitude brings serenity and fosters a sense of fulfillment.

These are the inadvertent teachings and timeless gifts of inspired living that I have discerned from the Masters that are at the foundation of who they are and who they have become along their journey to living their passion and purpose.  I am thankful to have had the privilege to enjoy the enlightening, inspirational and heart-centered messages from these incredible luminaries who are beacons of light in this world.
